Tuesday Apr 19, 2022
It’s no doubt that as the world rapidly globalizes, diversity is becoming increasingly present across all aspects of life. Encompassing gender, race, ethnicity or socio-economic background, diversity and a multicultural environment are important for a whole host of reasons, above all for the different perspectives they provide.
Listen to Dineo Dowd as she explains the importance of Diversity in the outdoors.
Dineo was recently nominated as Wisconsin’s 48 most influential black leaders in 2021. As a South African native, Dineo spent time outdoors and loved nature. Dineo writes diverse children’s books that encourage kids from all cultures and backgrounds to enjoy the outdoors. She writes these books in her voice based on her own lived experiences, but in a voice that children understand. Being an author of diverse children’s outdoor books gives her a unique way of looking at the outdoors through a child’s eyes, but with the life experience and knowledge to help break down barriers that kids may see in getting outside.
